LAMENT for the 21st CENTURY
This album was recorded live in Milwaukee USA in January 2008 for Candyrat Records. Rob Poland,
the label's founder, films his artists as they record, using just a single camera. That means no overdubs or drop-ins; each track must be done in a single
take.
After preparing the music and artwork etc, he releases the clips for each track on YouTube. The raw
immediacy of the recording process seems to be striking a chord, as he has
achieved good sales success based on the proportion of viewers who go on to buy
CDs or download tracks after seeing the videos.
Most of his artists are acoustic fingerstyle guitarists, including my good friend Andrew
White. Andrew introduced me to Rob, and I became the first harmonica player to get the Candyrat treatment. They say a
picture is worth a thousand words; the underlined tracks below link to the YouTube videos.
