Re: STAGGERED REEDPLATES UPGRADE - Thanks Edvin!

You’re always one step ahead Brendan.

Name? 21 reeds - 21 guns - Salute

Is it possible to chop the draw plate as well to allow for both blow & draw bends on Hole 7? I guess that would make my name suggestion obsolete :)

Re: Notes from the Workshop

Haha. Looks like the same problem i’ve been having with my own designs. So, there are partitions build into the cover plates? I think those can cause a problem but one different than what you you mentioned. Let’s deal with that first. In my experience the restricted sound is down to the air being ro...

Re: PowerBender versus PowerDraw

Yes, the SkipSlider does level the playing field. So, to add to the ever increasing number of tunings I'm thinking of trying this variation: C E G C E F A C E A D G B D F G B D G C Pluses - this tuning restores Hole 5 to Richter (you get the DF warble back in familiar territory. - consistency. all E...

Re: The SlipSlider - a Revolutionary Blues Harp.

Haha. My kid plays with those mini fingerboards. Just yesterday I was looking to nick some of the sandpaper type. Now I can order from ebay and not upset my kid :) I think I have a decent understanding of the harp's mechanics and a good grasp om theory so I might have a similar blind spot Brendan. I...

Re: The SlipSlider - a Revolutionary Blues Harp.

The good - This harp's innovations are great in that they are what i would call transparent. By this i mean that you can play it as you would a totally stock harp and only employ the new bends when you want to. It's not like changing a tuning from standard Richter where the new note is always presen...

Re: The SlipSlider - a Revolutionary Blues Harp. It's Weird, but it Works!

Hmm, yes those adjacent A and D notes could be pretty cool. Brendan, could you comment on the air tightness? It's the one thing i'd be most worried about. Well placed, appropriate strength magnets might keep things snug at the ends but with nothing in the middle to pull the Draw plate how does the h...

Re: The SlipSlider - a Revolutionary Blues Harp. It's Weird, but it Works!

I haven't ordered yet but if I understand the design correctly here's a few other tidbits about the SlipSlider. Assuming a 'C' harp: 1) The two high draw bends are actually executed one hole down from where the bent note usually resides. So, the shift left is made and the A6 can be bent down to G#6 ...

Re: NEW PRODUCT: The SlipSlider. A Revolutionary Blues Harp: It's Weird, but it Works!

Very clever. Very cool. Can the slide mechanism be operated quickly enough to play lines that incorporate both the new and regular bends? Is it essentially as fast as the button on a chromatic? A couple other questions - when sliding left do the new pairs of reeds in a particular air stream allow fo...

Re: Unibender

It occurs to me that using auxiliary reed plates might require significant re-tuning unless the design allows you to flip a Blow reed plate to act as the Draw X-reeds with the regular Blow reeds. This wouldn't personally deter me from having a go with the Unibender but is something to think about. A...
