Re: Double Paddy Wilde Rock Lucky 13!

Depends what you call 'major surgery'. That looks to me like a pretty easy change from a Lucky 13 in PowerDraw tuning: only 3 reeds to change. If you develop the skills it would take under 5 minutes. Certainly the major 7th in cross harp would be available as a partial bendbin the middle octave, but...

Re: Notes from the Workshop

Early chromatics such as the ones on those links avoided the long distance to the reeds. I hope I can update their designs for a new model along similar lines.

Notes from the Workshop

After a long hiatus the Rn'D bug has returned, and I've recently been spending time happily tinkering away in my workshop again. The main idea I'm exploring is how to make a chromatic harmonica with a different air shifting mechanism to the conventional front mouthpiece and slider. For inspiration I...

'Honeysuckle Rose' on PowerChromatic

Here's another 'Bikes and Harps' track, a live recording from 2004, featuring a chromatic with half-valved setup in PowerChromatic Tuning. Harmonica is in Bb, tune's in F:

Slightly Used PowerChromatic Available Cheap

For our USA readers: An American customer who bought a PowerChromatic harp in D via Rockin' Ron wants to return it. RR doesn't do returns so, rather than have him post to me in England, it would make sense for him to post it within USA. I'm offering it to someone who lives in America for a low price...

Re: Blowdown with Will Wilde: Comparison of two Tunings

In my case I was using a preset patch called 'Arena' in a small multi FX unit called the Korg Pandora. It's now discontinued, but you can buy them second hand. You could find or make similar patches in any multi FX unit, on an iPad, or using discreet effects pedals. The main elements of the sound ar...

Re: PowerBender key choice

Hi Triona,

You're right to point out I wasn't quite clear. I am playing a C Powerbender in Em (5th Position) on the Will Wilde tune, and I recommend an Eb PowerBender for playing in Gm (5th Position).

Re: PowerBender key choice

I would choose an Eb PowerBender for Gm/Bb. 5th Position is really nice on the PowerBender. That's what I'm using on the Will Wilde video:
