Hi Tony You have probably hit the nail on the head with what I've done over the last 6 months. I'm now settled on what I'm calling 'English' G/D tuning. Thanks for some really good info and suggestions. My tuning is not as I realise now Major cross. It's probably closer to Circular, certainly on the G harmonica and maybe the D too?
