Midi Sounds from a Standard Harmonica

This is an interesting new area which can apply to any type of solo harmonica, chromatic or diatonic, in any tuning, so I think this is the more suitable board to discuss it. Over the past couple of months I've been spending a lot of time exploring various pitch-to-Midi solutions. This is basically ...

Re: Status Update

Things are changing rapidly by the day here in the UK, as with everywhere in the world. All the China-based harps will continue to be posted out, but with the UK in lockdown from today, we're uncertain how this will affect posting the home-based products. For now things continue as they are, but if ...

Re: Memorization

If you play sessions regularly you can retain many tunes in your memory but, as with anything else, if you play infrequently the number of tunes will be far less of course.

I'm glad you're enjoying the book :-)

Hi Triona,

The videos are only for streaming on Vimeo, not download. Do you have a smartphone? That should play the Vimeo videos OK.

A great thing about going out biking on a regular basis is you get to see seasonal cycles as they happen. Now in the English spring, change is happening rapidly; in a week or two this bare woodland will be a riot of green, utterly transformed. 20 Out of 10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4qXk13QmWU...

Status Update

Hi Friends, Apologies for my forumic quiescence of late, but it reflects a bit of a change of focus this year. Instead of putting a lot of time and effort into creating niche-market harmonica stuff made in my home workshop (the 3d printed parts etc), I'm only going to release some selected designs t...

Re: QUESTION: Is diatonic solo tuned harmonica with recessed reedplates and 12 holes produced?

Hi Arsen... I used Suzuki Harpmaster/Bluesmaster combs. However you could use any lipped combs: Seydel Session, Hohner Special 20 etc. Actually I made my first Stretch Harps from Special 20 combs back in 1980 and used them for rest of the decade. They were 11-hole size, to fit Regular Breath Tuning,...

Re: QUESTION: Is diatonic solo tuned harmonica with recessed reedplates and 12 holes produced?

You could make your own by slicing up and gluing together two lipped combs from 10-hole harps, then putting in the reedplates from a 12 hole solo diatonic. I used to offer these (I called them Stretch Harps), but no longer.
