Keys of Irish songs
DISCLAIMER: Most users of this forum know waaaay more about Irish music than I do. So I am not claiming any expertise here. That being said, many times on this forum I read that a particular tuning is well-suited for Irish music. I would expect that a principle concern here would be the tuning's co...

Re: Spiral-DLT tuning (a working title)
As I reconsider the "compromised" tuning shown three posts above I now see that it would be fine for mixolydian play (as asserted earlier) but would not be so suitable for dorian. The blow-draw pattern in holes 7 and 8 disrupts that octave's spiral pattern. If mixolydian and dorian play are the goal...

Re: Seydel Nonslider
I see it now in "Diverse Spare Parts" for "Chromatic" at 69.95 USD "without VAT". I don't know if this means that VAT is yet to be added, or it might mean that no VAT will be added.
I am very happy to see this product. As soon as the NonSlider appears in the Configurator, I will jump in.

Re: Seydel Nonslider
I'm going to propose a NonSlider idea to this group. I would like your feedback on it before I (might) propose it to Seydel. I'm finding this idea difficult to explain with just words, so please bear with me. Let's start with the idea of the NonSlider as a form of Sampler -- for example, C in the up...

Re: Spiral-DLT tuning (a working title)
Thanks, Edvin!
Therefore the tuning in Figure 5 should not be called Spiral-D(oubled) L(eading) T(one). It should instead be called Spiral-Classical.

Re: Spiral-DLT tuning (a working title)
The tuning in Figure 5 (in the post above) could be had via Seydel's Configurator. A more economical -- though compromised -- approach would be to re-tune any standard Richter harp in the manner shown below. Re-tuning a Paddy Richter harp would be even easier, as the 3 blow would already be okay. I ...

Re: Spiral-DLT tuning (a working title)
In the first post of this discussion I said that the tuning shown in Figure 3 (above) was intended as "primarily an aeolian/ionian instrument." I later noticed that it also worked nicely in the lydian mode. In Figure 5 (below) I offer a tuning which is complementary to that of Figure 3 . This new tu...

Re: Spiral-DLT tuning (a working title)
I just noticed that assigning 1 draw as the tonic gives a continuously spiral-tuned lydian octave.
