Baby Fat chugger

I was comparing my Country-tuned Seydel Big Six es with my Country-tuned Kongsheng Baby Fat s. Both are of high quality and a joy to use. In particular, I was considering the possibilities afforded by the Kongsheng 's additional hole. It occurred to me that it could be used -- in the blow and the dr...

Re: A family of new modded-Richter tunings

In the comment above, Edvin asks if I "have considered lowering 7B to an Eb?". No, I had not. But now I will! Thanks. As for the inverted breath pattern in the hole 5, I was just exploring getting a IVdom7 in the blow layer while also providing a bend-less b3rd for the blues scale. As a general -- a...

Re: A family of new modded-Richter tunings

I now see that the tuning just above is a cousin to third position standard Richter, where an F harp would be used to play G blues, and a tonic is at the 4 draw. Most of this tuning's departures from Richter involve getting the low chords back to what they would have been (albiet inverted) in second...

QUESTION: How to use Inverted Bebop in a double-diatonic system?

At https://www.brendan-power.com/harmonicas-irish.php Brendan Power says: "The Slide Diatonic is another of my harmonica inventions. I first recorded with it on my 1994 album New Irish Harmonica, and I've used the Slide Diatonic for all my traditional Irish playing ever since." The tunings for Brend...

Re: Bluesy slide-harp tuning

Another possibility is to have the slider transition some of the blow notes to what--in full Richter tuning--would have been their respective blow bends or overblows.

I invite your thoughts on how to tweak this general concept.

Types of slider ornamentation/effect

Where can one find discussions of the various types of slider ornamentation, e.g. raise by one or two semitones, or lower by one or two? Also: consistent slider effect (across the harp) vs mixed effects? Also: double-diatonic setups. Especially in relation to the various musical genres. Video links ...

Re: Bluesy slide-harp tuning

Allow me to break this down ... As they are labeled above, the 1 through 10 blow notes are identical to what would be in a C major harp in standard Richter tuning. As such, they make a C major (IV) chord all the way through. The 1 through 5 draw notes are also identical to standard Richter. Holes 0...
