Re: Blowdown with Will Wilde: Comparison of two Tunings
Thanks... It's interesting to compare the Wilde Rock and PowerBender tunings, each has strong and weak points - as with all tunings! PB & Wilde Tunings.png Will got in touch with me to ask about PowerBender and PowerDraw when he was working on his own tuning. He liked both and has kept the top o...

Blowdown with Will Wilde: Comparison of two Tunings
I recently completed a fun video collaboration with British rock harmonica specialist Will Wilde: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5V0mPDpxYk We're playing our own harp tunings, which are similar but different. The track is in Em, he's using a Wilde Rock Tuning harp 2nd Position in A, I'm using a Po...

Re: Lucky 13 Power Chromatic key of D
To answer Malarz: The key of A is a very popular blues harp key, and an easier range for beginners to get the high end draw bends. Some have said I should have chosen a key C harp because the music reading would be easier - true, maybe I'd do it that way if I were starting again. However I think mos...

Re: Lucky 13 Power Chromatic key of D
One easy way to get the PowerBender book tracks in other keys is simply to pitch shift them. Many programs will do this; Audacity is a free and popular one. I'll bear in mind the option to get Lucky 13 PowerChromatic harps made in other keys, but right now that's an option which will work to help yo...

Re: Any plan to build a diminished lucky 13?
It's certainly possible, and I have considered it. I've made a couple already from PowerChromatic Lucky 13's in half-valved setup, and they play well.
I just wonder how many would sell. Do you have any idea how many diatonic players use Diminished Tuning?

Re: Half-valved PowerChromatic Lucky 13 meets Overblow Richter 10-hole
It's not that difficult actually... Some info to help:
I'm using a Lucky 13 PowerChromatic in D. First half of the tune is in E, second half is in A. That should get you started

Half-valved PowerChromatic Lucky 13 meets Overblow Richter 10-hole
Sandy Weltman and I have completed another trans-Atlantic video duet. This time the tune is a classic of early jazz, 'The Royal Garden Blues', recorded by Bix Beiderbecke and many other greats over the years. It's a fun showcase for our different styles and types of harmonica: https://www.youtube.co...

Re: PowerChromatic, Inverted Bebop, Diminished and all their relatives. A complete list!
Thanks Edvin! I love your combination of curiosity about harmonica tunings with a sophisticated analytical approach to researching and categorising them. It throws up interesting new layouts. Within your criteria (repeating scale, 4 hole period, draw always 2 semitones above the blow) you seem to ha...
