Re: When not to use a half-valved chromatic?

I think that a half-valved chromatic is the best choice when you are using a "power chromatic tuning". This tuning allows for draw bends on every hole and takes full advantage of the half valving. Also makes getting true(pitch-bending) vibrato a lot easier in my opinion. I play half valved Suzuki sc...

Re: What Would You Like to See?

Hi Brendan, I would be very excited to see videos that feature your own tunes! Maybe include info on the harp/tuning you used to record the track and any tips on learning the tune! I would be most interested in POWER-BENDER or POWER-CHROM tunes personally. Just to throw one out there, "The Dingle An...

Re: Paddy-Power-Bender

I completely see your point, thank-you for the insight! With that in mind, I'm going to order your course and use Paddy-Solo Tuning! I think my biggest hurtle with Richter Tuning is the switch in the breathing pattern at hole 7. For this reason your Paddy-Solo tuning really appeals to me!

Re: Paddy-Power-Bender

You are correct, 2 draw reeds have to be raised-----> 9, 10 DRAW
However, 6 blow reeds and 2 draw reeds, must be lowered,
if your starting from Paddy Richter Tuning----> 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 BLOW and 5, 6 DRAW.

Re: Hohner 270

I also upgraded to the extreme powercomb on my 270! Do you just glue the ends of the backplate to the comb?

Paddy-Power-Bender

After buying a few of Brendan's own-brand Power-Bender harps I've become quite fond of the tuning and have made myself a half-valved set of them using blu-tak and a rubber grinding wheel. I even find myself avoiding richter-tuned harps these days :? Brendan, Raising the 3 blow a whole tone, in PB tu...

Re: Power Chromatic

Yes, absolutely, should of clarified. :D
I used the first method you describe (tuning diagram from the geek zone) so it is now a G chromatic as you point out.

Re: Power Chromatic

Okay great, thank you both! I've finished turning my stock C 270 into a 3D printed, half-valved, PC! Brendan, could you recommend any tunes, for attempting to mimic, off your two PC albums - back to back or swingfellas - where you use a C harp? This is the only key I've got and I'm eager delve into ...

Re: Power Chromatic

Brendan, Just for my clarification... In your excellent report on half-valving here, http://www.slidemeister.com/forums/index.php?topic=1357.0 You say that removing the 2 4 6 8 10 12 valves does not offer more bends due to the semitone relationship in those holes. If I do the retuning like the PC di...
