Re: New and Unique TWIN-DIATONIC HARPS - Demo Videos

Hey Brendan, have you played around with comb thickness for the stacked harps? Custom Combs might allow you to shrink the height, but I've not tested the sound differences or playability of comb thickness. For lower notes thicker combs seem to be to prefer. At least Seydel started with thicker comb...

Re: LUCKY 13 RECOMMENDED CUSTOMISERS/REPAIRERS

Ben Bouwman is not only a very good harp player. He is said to be one of the top customers here around too. His customized Seydels are widely considered to belong to the best stuff you can get. (There are two versions of embossing available by him.) And his prices are modest as well. A good choice f...

Re: What to seal combs with.

Bees wax is certainly a good advice too, from which I already have heard of.

Re: What to seal combs with.

You can seal the comb with walnut oil. Take only a little amount. Just rub it in with a soft cloth and take away the excess, leaving a thin coat. It is air-drying. It will not turn rancid. The drying time is about 1 week. Repeat the procedure every now and then. I think it must be to get in Ireland ...

Re: Comparison Lucky 13 to Seydel Solist Pro 12 Steel - Low Octave

Middle C is the C4 depicted on the layout sheet, and is Hole 1 on a regular C-harp and is also the C in the fourth hole (however it may be numbered) on both the Lucky 13 and the Solist Pro. Then I guess the following layout sheet should be correct now? http://thumbs.picr.de/29026625qr.jpg (click to...

Re: Reeds Attached with Screws

... try "super glue" to attach it. Much to my surprise, it actually worked and is still working weeks later. :o ... to my big surprise too ... You have a really Lucky one. :) But I'm quite sure, it fly fly away one time again. But if it's sounding well and is still in tune, you can repeat this oper...

Re: Reeds Attached with Screws

Oo, top of the jokers set - or ass card drawn, by other words. I don't envy you. The usual way is to drill out the screw - with a diameter not exceeding the core diameter of the screw. Then tetap the thread. I have done this many many times - with diameters of M 4, M5, M6, ... up to M16 or so. But I...
