Making the sound of a plucked reed while playing? A new technique! (?)

I was playing around just now, and found something quite peculiar! Check this out: https://cloud.fripost.org/s/pdM7JFtAKKZw4xZ I play a completely normal Seydel Session Steel G (paddy) PowerBender, no magnets or anything. (The only somewhat unusual part of the setup is a curled up sock inside my cup...

Re: How to get Extra, Deeper Bends on Harmonica

That's a clever idea! Could you comment on any advantages of the slide-bend-enabler over the TurboSlide? The ones I could see are that it's easier to build yourself from a stock harp and the wider range of the 12 holes. The downside could be that the magnet blow bends are not smooth and the larger s...

Thanks, Brendan!

That ribbon controller does seem useful! As I understand it it's quite different from your miniMIDI-JOYstick, is this correct? Could you say something about how the two compare?

While I'm doing that Edvin, did you post the Wedin Chromatic info etc on Slidemeister? I'm interested to hear their reactions.
I finally got around to posting on Slidemeister: https://forums.slidemeister.com/index.php?topic=20627

I used the same sound clips but altered the presentation somewhat.

The new, updated DM48X is here!

I just saw an e-mail from Lekholm Instruments, announcing their introducing the successor to the DM48: DM48X ! The most apparent new features are that the new model has a ribbon controller on top, which could be used as a pitch-bender or to control the sound in other ways, and that it can be operate...

Re: MODULAR-REED HARMONICA - Released!

Are there any plans to make a Modular-Reed twin harmonica system?

There isn't much competition when it comes to chromatics in non-standard tunings, and it looks like it might turn out to be cheaper than Seydel's most basic custom-tuned chrom. Just saying...

Re: MODULAR-REED HARMONICA - Released!

Here is an example what a bent chord could sound like by the way! (Complete with comments from my producer  )

I start playing the note pair GD, and then repeatedly bend the D down to a C. It's thus an example of a fifth being compressed to a fourth.

Re: MODULAR-REED HARMONICA - Released!

Thank you Brendan! I've been doing some more experimenting with my set lately, so new reeds could definitely be useful. :D I woke up early this morning and, half awake, I came to the realisation: If someone would like to know what a tremolo blues harmonica sounds like, the Modular Reed system is is ...

Thanks for those ideas Edvin! Would it be OK to post them on the ModReed webpage for Richter players to try out with their reed sets?
Sure! Totally OK, use either one of them or use both :)

Re: MODULAR-REED HARMONICA - Released!

As Tyler said: Congrats, Brendan! After all these years they're out! It's a really cool product with lots of possibilities, even if you just use a standard Richter tuned harp without any extra reeds. Here are some additional ideas, on top of the ones Brendan covered in his videos, which new owners c...
