Re: Retuning a Hohner Vineta
Wow! Thanks for the info. It looks like maybe trying to find the Gm Dm Am version would make a nice complement to the one I have. Still interested in anyone's chord suggestions. At it's simplest, I suppose the question is this: If you have C, F, G and C7, G7, D7, what next 6 chords would you most l...

Re: The need for valves.
I think keeping the harp warm should help quite much. If you put it into your heating box when leaving the house, it should be prepared enough for playing and proper function of the valves, until you have reached your hill. But you should watch, that the temperatur in the heating box does not exceed...

Re: The need for valves.
Just try and remove them. In the case that you are not satisfied with the resukt, you can replace them again. Seydel offers sets of valves as a sparepart. You can even chose the improved ones, they have since new. http://www.seydel1847.de/epages/Seydel1847.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Seydel/Categori...

Re: Bass Harmonica
I've made a couple of experimental harmonicas using low reed blocks from accordions, and they sound sweet. Getting blocks in the right note combinations to make a harmonica scale is a bit trickier, and they can be quite expensive. Thanks for the reminder - I've been meaning to revisit that idea in ...

Could these effects be the reason for the conical design of the reed slots by yonberg too? http://en.yonberg-harmonica.com/content/8-technology And here another question for better understanding: Helmholtz Resonance Coupling is the phenomenon where the resonant frequency of the combined chamber of m...

All messages stand in the "outbox" until they are read. Then they get into the box "sent messages". Btw: They can be edited as long as they are in the "outbox", and not any more as soon as they are read. And if people who like to use a more or less anonymous nickname and / or avatar give a little in...

... that reed replacement requires dealing with the welded reeds, removing them, and creating a new combo of a tapped reed plate screw hole, and the new reed needs a clearance hole for a screw, or screw / nut combo. This is why I consider the welded reeds as a major disadvantage, concerning not onl...
