Re: The new, updated DM48X is here!

Here's a video demonstrating my little bending accessory gizmo on the DM48X:

LARKING WITH A LEKHOLM

I'm using 1 and 2 semitone bends extensively on this tune.

Yes, I can get accurate bends with this gizmo. You can use the Mini PitchBender on the normal DM48 for accurate bends also.

DIMINISHED-SIXTH TUNING on the Modular-Reed Harmonica

Here's what David Fairweather (jazmaan) just created with the Modular-Reed Harmonica : a Diminished-Sixth Tuning. Apparently this scale is all the rage in Jazz circles these days, but this is the first time it's been put in a harmonica - very interesting! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX9plktdX84 ...

Hohner PentaHarp : Eight Easy Pentatonic Scales

Hohner sent me a PentaHarp and requested a video playing it. At first I didn't like it but later discovered it has some nice expression hidden inside. Because of its symmetric tuning (all octaves have the same breathing pattern), it's pretty easy to play in all three octaves in eight different penta...

Re: The new, updated DM48X is here!

The sound of the DM48X pitch ribbon is really nice! It gives a very smooth bending effect. However, from my point of view, the downside is that you can't get really accurate pitch bends with it - as you can with the Mini PitchBender. From studying various musical styles where pitch bending is integr...

Re: TurboSlide (and SlipSlider?) dimi

So glad you got the Dimi Turboslide Jason, and are enjoying the extra cool expression and other possibilities it offers. When you feel comfortable, please post a video or sound clip somewhere, so we can listen to the effects you describe :-)

Re: MODULAR-REED HARMONICA - Released!

BTW Edvin, Triona, Pat and Paul: thanks so much to all of you for the excellent feedback you sent on the ModReed harp as Beta Testers back in 2019! As a mark of appreciation, I'd like to offer you all a 10-reed case with a choice of 10 reeds inside, to add to the ones you already have in your test h...

Re: Modular Reed mini shruti box?

You're absolutely right Triona! I found it disturbing too, but it was the best display of the individual reeds in a Shruti Box that I could find.

Looking forward to seeing your special drone tuning!

Re: Modular Reed mini shruti box?

As I guess you know, Shruti boxes (like Indian harmoniums) already have modular single reeds! They were part of the inspiration for the Modular-Reed Harmonica.

So you're thinking of a mini version?
