Re: "Zero to nine" tuning by Fernando Xavier
Thank you for the speedy replies! While I can clearly see the advantage of this tuning using the Lucky 13, I know that that size may be difficult to handle if it's held with a mic as well. I assume that Seydel could make a 10-hole 0-9 harp for me. If that is the case, I also assume I should lay the ...

"Zero to nine" tuning by Fernando Xavier
I recently heard this tuning, "0-9", played by Diego Sales of Brasil. He plays really fast, straight ahead jazz licks on it. He posted a layout of the harp, a 10-hole diatonic, when I asked "WHAT was that ?!!!" I'm hoping that Brendan and others will chime in on this layout, maybe give some more ins...

Re: First position aeolian natural minor custom tuning.
You might be interested to read this article, it describes a lot of what you are shooting for here. Several cool alt-tunings are possible using the various reedplates from L.O. harps. For instance, use an E Melody Maker blowplate over an A major drawplate. Instant Paddy Richter. Enjoy the article, v...

Re: Idea for slideless chromatic harp
I like your idea here. I have approached the harp with an open mind re: alt-tunings and new inventions, it is a marvelous time for the harp, for sure. My only experiences with anything mechanical regarding harp have been limited to chromatics and the Dr. Henry T. Bahnson overblow invention, in F, Go...

Re: urgently searched sparepart
I have found that a tiny piece of an elastic rubber band can snug up the most problematic task of bonding two hard-to-bond pieces. I maintain a street piano in the town I live in and one of the repairs I did this early summer was to snug up a hammer shaft in the hole it seats in so that it wouldn't ...

Re: EDharmonica, by Seydel
I am very interested to know what others think about the EDharp, particularly used in swing/jump/blues, the "West Coast" sound. One of the interesting things about the EDharp is that it could be valved for blow bends holes 1-10. I have yet to try out an EDharp but it is quite an interesting layout. ...

Re: Lucky 13 in Matural Minor
Very interesting, the dorian harp you described. I made one as well using an "A Major blowplate" over an "E Natural Minor drawplate" using Lee Oskar harps. Very simple mod if one happens to have those laying around. It is one of my favorite harps. I want to take the harp further using half-valving o...

Re: Introduce yourself
Hiya friends - I have played mostly diatonic since beginning harp in 1973, maybe 1972. My first real harp hero was and still is Paul Butterfield. His "Driftin' Blues", especially his Woodstock version, really got under my skin. Soon after then I learned of the likes of Charlie Musselwhite, James Cot...
