Replacement parts.

Brendan,
I've seen your videos on replacing reeds on an scx-48 reedplate. Very informative!! Wondering if you know of a place where I could order individual reeds for that harp as well as those self-tapping screws! Its for my C power chromatic (stock scx-48-G)
Thanks!

Re: Power Chromatic

Brendan, I was listening to "What a Wonderful World" from "back to back" which is jusy incredibly beautiful by the way! There's a point in the melody where you go from a G to an A and it sounds like a button push us happening.  It got me wondering if you ever configure your power chromatics like a s...

Re: Blow and Tell ;) Audio/video clips of Brendan's tunings IN USE!

I posted this before but I thought I'd put it in the 'proper' thread. Here's a clip of me trying to play Brendan's awesome solos from hesitation blues with Andrew White. Transcribing these solos and working on playing them has really helped me get familiar with PC tuning and its fun! A little rough ...

Re: PowerChromatic: The 12 Major Scales with Bends ; Setup Advice

I too had become quite used to a stock chromatic before i tried PC tuning. In my opinion, a half valved PC is superior to a standard chromatic. Way more expressive and intuitive. You will probably be surprised at how little adjustment period there is. give it a chance!

Re: PowerChromatic: The 12 Major Scales with Bends ; Setup Advice

It all depends on how you want to do the retune. With a stock C the two easiest option are:

G: CD/EF#/GA/AB
or
Bb: CD/EbF/GA/BbC

Glad I could help haha! Love that descending 5ths progression of dom7th chords in the middle there! Do you happen to remember what harp you used for the recording? Sounds to me like some sort of X Reed set up.

Re: When not to use a half-valved chromatic?

Not to speak for Brendan, but I think it's safe to say that he would never prefer a fully valved harp. Unless I'm mistaken, he hasn't recorded on a fully valved harp since he invented half valving in 1980.

https://youtu.be/d1LzQOZqtp4 Here is a video of me playing "Kitchenaire" from the awesome album, "Lament for the 21st Century". Here I play it on a Key of C, Hohner CX-12 that I put in Bb P.C. tuning. Im playing with the button in (mostly) so the home key of the tune is B major! Brendan, I couldn't ...
