Re: Which MIDI Harmonica?

For quick plug and play with virtually no learning curve, the HM12 with its onboard sounds is best. Just run the audio lead out to your headphones or amp and you're playing instantly. As a pure MIDI controller for outside sounds (such as the great SWAM collection now on iPad), the DM48 is superior. ...

Re: Playing PowerBenders in different keys

Hi Jack, I'm glad you're enjoying PowerBender tuning :) Unfortunately the sheet music examples in the book can't be transposed. However: 1. Simply read the TAB under the notes score. It works for any key harp! 2. You can transpose the music tracks from the CD. Just save the tracks as MP3s and put th...

Re: MODULAR-REED HARMONICA - Released!

Thanks for your enthusiasm for the modular reed concept Dorothy! It's always encouraging to get feedback like that for an idea one has put a huge amount of time and effort into 🙂 Though I started with 10-hole harps, I see a lot of potential for using modular reeds to make many other kinds of harmoni...

Re: Harmonicas with Modular Reedplates

Thanks for your positive feedback and suggestions regarding the Modular-Reed harmonica, Dorothy. I'm glad you're loving yours! As far as keeping large numbers of spare reeds safe and well catalogued for easy retrieval goes, that's an interesting question! It was one that we had to solve ourselves, s...

Re: Harmonica andiPad connection question

Thanks for the nice clear pic of your iPad setup Rishio. That's a USB audio interface, which is what I use also (iRig and TC Helicon versions). I'd recommend USB to John, although the basic analogue iRig 1 interface will work fine with iPads with headphone ports if he wants to reduce his costs. Gara...

Re: PowerBender Versus EdHarmonica

Sounding good Rishio! As I think we discussed earlier in the thread, I've used my own version of ED Tuning for many years. It's the same repeating scale, but starts on a hole higher up. It's the bottom octave of Paddy Richter (or Melody Maker) repeated, so I call it Paddy-Extended. ED uses the same ...

Re: Harmonica andiPad connection question

Hi John, I was thinking just the basic iRig 1 interface you mentioned. Plug it into the headphone socket of the iPad. Your harp mic 1/4 inch plug goes in the guitar input, and you can listen via headphones or a lead to your amp from the mini-jack headphone outlet on the iRig. Othe similar audio inte...

Re: Harmonica andiPad connection question

Glad you like the video and are interested in exploring what the iPad has to offer for harmonica.

When using an audio interface, the output cable comes from the interface. The analog type plugs into the headphone socket, USB type plugs into the lightning socket.

Re: Sheet music, tabs, and then THIS ...

You're right... This excellent TAB must have taken sooooo long to do! Days and days and days....

However I bet some clever person could come up with an algorithm that could train an AI to do it in seconds...
