Why this Forum?

Post by Brendan »

Hello friends!

This Forum is for intelligent discussion on all things innovative and different with respect to harmonicas. There are two main boards:

Brendan’s Custom Harmonicas, Tunings etc is devoted to my stuff in all its forms: harps, tunings, books, recordings etc. Since my custom harps and tunings are not mainstream, sometimes it’s hard to find information on them. This board creates a space where users can share experiences, give advice to each other, solve problems, share videos etc. I’ll always be available to answer questions here. It will also be the platform where I offer sneak peeks of upcoming new models, and announce product launches first - before anywhere else.

The other board is called Interesting Alternative Harmonica Ideas. This is a platform for anything apart from the two standard default commercial models (Solo-tuned fully-valved chromatic, and un-valved Richter 10-hole diatonic). There are plenty of forums talking about them already! It's a place for blue sky thinking about harmonicas: alternate tunings, different construction, new functionality, interesting old designs, wish-lists of the perfect harmonica... whatever!

***

Have fun, and keep it friendly!

Bonjour Brendan and everybody

I think your idea is very good. Myself I know how to tune my own harmonica, and I am always very impressed by your positive impact regarding the evolution of the instrument, so I am sure too learn many things here... ( Springs needs flowers :D )

So having this kind of forum appears really justifed to me also because it becomes easier again to find informations about your harmonica tunning and tunning...
Also I understand that their is less chance to get questions, lost in the middle of thousands... (ok billions) of messages far more generalists ;)

Patrice
PS: Just added a link to my website, with pleasure (obvious) but don't really know how to name it, you can tell me what you prefer Brendan, do not hesitate...

Hi Patrice, thanks for joining us here :) This forum is partly about my stuff, but also very open to interesting alternative ideas in the wider harmonica scene. So if you know or hear of anything, let us know.

For example, since you are French, what's new with the local scene - and Yonberg in particular? As a self-taught CAD designer myself, I am so impressed with the CAD graphics on the Yonberg site:

http://en.yonberg-harmonica.com/

Wish I could do that! Impressive looking plastic parts that Jean-Claude Bibollet is producing too, nice finish. Does he plan to make a chromatic?

Brendan,

Jean-Claude asked me lots of questions about SPAH convention event in Tulsa this year... I know he is represented by a local in USA, but maybe he is going or send someone to represent Yonberg because people are interrested there...
I just sent a mail to Jean-Claude so maybe he could answer by himself ;)

About the actuality in France the main French festival takes place in St Aignan sur Cher ( http://www.harmonicasurcher.com/en/festival/ & the advertisment I made for english speaking people http://harmonicacontact.com/Articles_wo ... rCher.html ).
Roger Trobridge already booked a place to stay extremely close to the center of the festival.
This festival takes place from the 25th to 27th included of May 2017.

An other festival organized by "Harmonicas de France", the biggest french association happend the week before in the french Alpes at Cluses... Information here: http://harmonicasdefrance.free.fr/evene ... al_h2f.htm

Travelling a bit to harp/harmonica places, I know how much it is great to meet people from elsewhere... So do not hesitate to come around if you can, everywhere something happend

I speak a lot about the things the other are doing Brendan ;) ...
All the merit comes to them :) !!! (And you!!!)

But to try getting people to realise all the rich information that you can find on Internet is good, with the hope to get them to meet people from elsewhere.
I would like as well to make Interviews in english but my english is terrific (Sometime I believe one thousand years of disputs/war between England and France was perhaps the fault of my accent and writting  )

I am still waiting answers of Jean-Claude...MAybe Yonberg is extremly busy :)) ?!!

I'm happy to be Here. Thanks for starting this up.
I'm a fan of Paddy Richter, half valving, alternative tunings, and just about anything having to do with making music on the little things.
