Chromabender x-reed setup question (PC tuning)

Post by Sachlaw » Mon Sep 18, 2017 1:52 pm

I just recently setup a C chromabender to PC CEbGBb/DFAC.
For the x-reed, I tuned holes 1 to 3 down to a point where I can get a full step out of the bend.
I am a bit confused the 4th x reed. I am assuming it's is for the draw interaction. I dropped it a bit also; however on 4 blow, (depending how I hit the note) it will sometimes resonate another note that I think is coming from the x-reed tone range. It does not appear to happen further up the harp, but I have yet to tune the next two octaves.

Are there any special considerations I should take when setting up a chromabender for PC tuning such as this? Perhaps I missed something that is causing the issue. Also, would there be any issues I need to look out for with tuning the higher octaves?

The ChromaBender reedplates are designed for Solo tuning. To adapt for PowerChromatic you need to reverse the reed direction of the X-Reed in holes 4/8/12 to match the other X-Reeds. Remove the reed and reinsert on the other side of the reedplate, then retune to the desired pitch.
