I'm also wondering if the elves will have produced a few of these in time to squeeze them into Santa's sack.

Would be great, i have a few days free on christmas holidays and it would be perfect to have time to test, modify and customize if needed. :D

Maybe... My trouble is that I have too many designs I'm working on and tend to get completely focussed on the latest one. It's hard to break off from the buzz of the new to do the necessary final tweaks on earlier ones to get them out there.

To launch something for sale also involves working out ordering options, expanding the range to different brands/models (which can take a lot of time!), video & photos, text promo, website updates... The prospect of all that compared to just tinkering on new stuff for fun often causes earlier designs to languish for too long in boxes.

But the UniBender is a good one! Thanks for the reminder to get it out there.

Yeah..lots of work and thats probably only the first name.
My only hope is that the unibender is your next project to get released.

UPDATE:

This month new models have been delayed by a restructuring of the production side of my harmonica business. It's taking a while but coming to the end of the process.

The good thing is that after it's done, I will be able to put out new designs faster than before. The UniBender is top of the list for release under the new system.

It occurs to me that using auxiliary reed plates might require significant re-tuning unless the design allows you to flip a Blow reed plate to act as the
Draw X-reeds with the regular Blow reeds. This wouldn't personally deter me from having a go with the Unibender but is something to think about.

Are we close to having these babies available for purchase?

Apologies - this delay in releasing the UniBender is getting embarrassing for me, and annoying for you! The current hold-up is finishing the patent documents. The valve principle inside the UniBender could apply to a wide range of harmonicas and I want to protect it before release. I've done the main part but need to do the drawings with annotations. It's a time-consuming task, and lots of other stuff going on has stopped me finishing it off.

Thanks for your continued patience, Brendan

Yes, its easy to understand all delays because all of
Brendans inventions demands specific solutions to be finished and that also require focus without disturbance from other projects. But i agree, it feels like a long time to wait if your only interest is in the Unibender.

But you still have some haronicas of the old types to play in the meantime? ;)

That just the patent stuff is consuming so fuckin' much time and effort, is a very frustrating thing. But there is no help. We are living in a fuckin' capitalist world. And always there are waiting some parasite people who want to get rich on other people's efforts. So this patent-shit is inevitable for anyone who wants and needs to earn a fair living on his own work and ideas. It' a real pity. But I really can understand the delay.
