Egg-on-face time sorry folks: Been working hard all week on these babies but encountered a couple of unforeseen problems which necessitated going back into the R&D phase to overcome, and just ran out of time to complete everything for a proper launch. Got to focus elsewhere for a while: I'm off to Turkey this weekend for a festival and need to learn a lot of music I haven't even looked at yet! It's tough to balance the production work with trips away for gigs... Disappointed not to get them out yet as they are very cool new harps, but we did a lot of good preparation work, and will get back on the case when I return.

No worries.
Busy people are busy, and usually for good reason.
Of course my head may explode if I have to wait to much longer to find out what new toys you have for us.
I made a slide harmonica for a Turkish Saz player, it has one makaam on each reedplate so he can switch back and forth, but the notes are close enough to use the slide for decorations.
If I remember correctly it was pretty close to a G minor on one plate, and an A harmonic minor on the other.

Take your time, Brendan! Does two or three weeks change anything now? If you really want something you decide to wait for it. Not much to do about it. :)

Actually, we got one of them out, and it's a pretty cool harp: the SlipSlider.

Here's the video:

That's an interesting Slide Diatonic you made there, Crawford. What were the two tunings?

I owed him a big Favor for some assistance he gave to my son and I.
I started with a Koch in G.
The top plate I did in a Rast Makam. In the Paddy Richter pattern.
The Bottom Plate was a Hicaz ( I think) in PR pattern.
I embossed it lightly, and half valved it. I smoothed and tightened up the mouthpiece assembly.
I wish I had made two. I had a blast noodling around on it.
Top plate went like this:
Ga/Bb d/E f#/ Ga/Bb c/De/Gf#/Bb a/ D c/ Ge
Bottom Plate:
A Bb/C#e/F#g/A bb/C# d/ Ef#/Ag/C#Bb/Ed/Af#.
So it is almost like a slide diatonic, and almost like a session harp.
Each plate is its own scale, but slider decorations sounded cool. Plus being half valved you could “push” the notes a bit to get what you wanted. Fun for just taksim type noodling around.
I ’m tempted to make another for myself now. Or maybe just a pair of diatonics to put in a switch harp.
There are loads of Makam. A set of combs and a switch harp or two could let someone really jam.
