HARMONICA and BUTTON-BOX: New Album with Tim Edey

Post by Brendan » Fri Mar 24, 2017 3:49 pm

I'm lucky to make a living from the harmonica, in two main aspects: playing/recording and designing/making. Sometimes it's hard to get a balance between the two, as the making side in my workshop has absorbed an increasing amount of of my time in recent years.

But most years I manage to pop out 2-3 albums, and have a new one coming soon with my brilliant musical buddy Tim Edey. It's called Harmonica and Button Box . The title says it all really: pure free-reed mayhem from the mouth and bellows-blown types. I've always loved the combination of various kinds of accordion and harmonica, and this album features Tim on the little Irish button box. It's push-pull, similar to the blow-draw we do on harmonicas, and the sound together is really sweet. Here's a video of one of the sets of tunes we play on the album:

You're very lucky to have someone like Tim around. I love the button box, but there aren't many local players. So, I trained up my own. See http://accordionaires.com for details.

Hi Brendan,

You have come out with quite a few albums now, haven't you? 24 if I counted right. How about a "greatest hits" or "best of" sort of album to make it easier for late-comers like myself. I, for one, would buy one right away, to facilitate the decision on where to start and where to continue to dig. Others may too. Would that be a possibility?

Cheers, Karl

Not a bad idea, choose my personal favourite tracks and put them all together. I'll think about it!
