"Sad" tuning for six-hole harp

Anything apart from the two mainstream default harmonicas (Solo-tuned fully-valved chromatic, and un-valved Richter 10-hole diatonic). Alternate tunings, different construction, new functionality, interesting old designs, wishful-thinking... whatever!

"Sad" tuning for six-hole harp

Post by IaNerd » Sat Aug 12, 2017 2:37 pm

NAME: Playing this evoked images of old western films, hence the name "The Sad Cowboy".

BASIC CONCEPT: Small harp with nearly circular tuning, tonic of E. The mix of major and minor chords is mournful. Fun to play, especially around a crackling campfire with a big pot of sofkee.

WHEN/HOW: This was my very first custom tuning. Constructed by Seydel's Custom Shop in July of 2014.

LAYOUT:

DETAILS: Pretty self-explanatory. Note than in addition to the complete E major scale, this tuning also provides its complete relative minor scale (C#m), with the same draw-blow pattern.
