Table of reedplate dimensions?

Anything apart from the two mainstream default harmonicas (Solo-tuned fully-valved chromatic, and un-valved Richter 10-hole diatonic). Alternate tunings, different construction, new functionality, interesting old designs, wishful-thinking... whatever!

Table of reedplate dimensions?

Post by IaNerd » Fri Nov 24, 2017 5:14 pm

Can anyone share a table showing, for various makers (e.g. Hohner, Suzuki, LO, Seydel) and notable models (e.g. Manji, MB, Big Six) with each model's reed plate dimensions (e.g. plate L, W, o.c. reed slot pacings, reed slot widths)?

Interesting question. I could measure a few reedplates I have at home and post here when I have the time. Would be interesting to see which are interchangable.

Cheers, Karl

OK, I measured a few harps at home, and here are the results.

I included photos of the disassembled harps on top of a millimeter grid paper (mm hardly visible, cm clearly visible). Could be useful for finding placements of screwholes, cut-outs, rounded corners, or whatever.

This is just a test and an example of a presentation. I realize I should have been more consistent in showing all reedplates and combs from the same side and orientation, to actually see how the screw holes match, or any other pecularities. There are other quality imperfections also, such as brightness, contrast, lining up with the grid...

If anyone find it at all useful I might come up with better presentations later. Other contributions welcome.

First easy to read image, then tabbed text results:

Looks quite helpful, if someone is in need for spareparts to any odd old or exotic model not longer available, as well as for some tuning jobs.
Thank you.

This idea looks really helpful but I think that it is possible to make it better
I hope that this year I will win the vuelta races because this is my biggest dream and the best result for my sport career
