Re: Slide Diatonic tuning ideas for blues and rock: "Wilde Slide" Tuning

Very interesting ideas indeed. But a little bit too complicated for me to follow at first sight. I must think about this in a quiet hour one more time. But as far as this: Slide-in One Fourth Up (or Down) I am experimenting with this idea since several years. For it does not hit exactly the su...

baroque harmonica and power chord harmonica

Coming from this I would like to report some old ideas of mine: Slide-in One Fourth Up (or Down) I am experimenting with this idea since several years. Since its arrival in 2016 I play the Seydel Sampler. This is a double-diatonic with a slider to interchange between 2 keys. It is substantially the ...

Re: Ideas for changing a diatonic harp tuning on the fly

First question about what confused me: Are you a left-hander or is your video mirrored? And here my contentual thoughts: I do not think that you can omit the spacer between the draw-reedplate and the bottom slider. The draw reeds do not only stick out of the surface of the reedplate. They even need ...

BTW: Is this part called "slide" or "slider" in correct English? I have seen both of them.

Re: JDR Trochilus: A Look inside and its potential as a customizing platform

 Aha! Indeed I suspected that there must be something quirky with this layout in connection with the movement of the slider. But I just could not grasp what it might be. I could not imagine the layout following Dominick's description. And I missed to count the holes on the Trochilus's slider. ...

Re: JDR Trochilus: A Look inside and its potential as a customizing platform

That seems to me a quite interesting construction, design and layout. But one thing I do not understand: What do you win by fliping around the slide? As far as I can recognize, I presume all the notes of the key of C are located on the upper reedplate - each draw reed following a blow reed in regula...

... the dual draw and blow turboslide design. Is this the bottom side of the comb in the picture? And were is the reedplate? I can not recognize it. The "integrated plastic spring" worked That was what I did expect, because on Jim Antaki's Turboharp it is working as well. slider spring mechanism wo...

Re: Ideas for changing a diatonic harp tuning on the fly

I might have to speak with a Seydel rep though, looks like the replacement covers are 30 bucks a pop if I buy them individually. I know that they are not cheap. But it seems they cost twice as much in the US than in Germany - not including salestax. :o And there are 5-packs for 100$ as well. They a...

Re: Ideas for changing a diatonic harp tuning on the fly

Regarding the drawplate turboslide, I am making progress. Ultimately the standard coverplate clearance just isn't enough space to make everything work, but on the upside I created a 1mm spacer for the coverplate to sit on and that seems to be doing well. Why not use the higher coverplates from the ...
