Half-Valved Chromatics
I was wondering if I could ask some incredibly basic questions about the half-valved chromatic? I understand half-valving when it comes to diatonics, but can't seem to get my head around how it works on a chromatic. Which valves do you remove? And, how does that affect the air-tightness of the harmo...

Re: Blow and draw reeds an octave apart
Thanks. I'll do some experiments and keep refining my idea before I take the plunge on the Seydel configurator. (Money's a bit tight at the moment anyway, so it'll take me a good couple of months to save up for it.)

Re: Blow and draw reeds an octave apart
Thank you for your insight. I do wish I'd been able to get my hands on a modular reed harp. Would make it so much easier (and cheaper) to explore these passing curiosities I have about completely outlandish harmonica tunings. The different playing technique is a good point though. Being such an unfa...

Blow and draw reeds an octave apart
Last night I had a strange idea for a harmonica. It isn't fully formed yet, but part of it involved tuning the blow and draw reeds on some holes an octave apart (so, for example, 4 blow would be C4 and 4 draw would be C5). I wanted to ask the wise people of this forum if that would cause any problem...

Engraving pen recommendations
Following something Brendan mentioned in a YouTube video, I got myself a cheap cordless engraving pen from Amazon to do some retuning. It saved me so much time and worked wonderfully... Until it didn't. This morning, with no warning, it refused to turn on. It was recharged last night, so I know it c...

Re: Switch-Harp mixing low and regular tunings
Although, I suppose you could just get a low F and tune everything up a semitone!

Re: Switch-Harp mixing low and regular tunings
I didn't know you could get the promaster in a low F#. Thanks, that's really helpful!

Switch-Harp mixing low and regular tunings
Hi everyone, First time posting on the forum, so I hope I've found the right place... For a while I've been wanting to find a way to chromaticise (is that a word?) my Paddy Richter harps. I think it would be easier for me to play if the slide lowered the notes rather than raised them. So with the sl...
