Re: Seydel Nonslider
I'm going to propose a NonSlider idea to this group. I would like your feedback on it before I (might) propose it to Seydel. I'm finding this idea difficult to explain with just words, so please bear with me. Let's start with the idea of the NonSlider as a form of Sampler -- for example, C in the up...

Re: Spiral-DLT tuning (a working title)
Thanks, Edvin!
Therefore the tuning in Figure 5 should not be called Spiral-D(oubled) L(eading) T(one). It should instead be called Spiral-Classical.

Re: Spiral-DLT tuning (a working title)
The tuning in Figure 5 (in the post above) could be had via Seydel's Configurator. A more economical -- though compromised -- approach would be to re-tune any standard Richter harp in the manner shown below. Re-tuning a Paddy Richter harp would be even easier, as the 3 blow would already be okay. I ...

Re: Spiral-DLT tuning (a working title)
In the first post of this discussion I said that the tuning shown in Figure 3 (above) was intended as "primarily an aeolian/ionian instrument." I later noticed that it also worked nicely in the lydian mode. In Figure 5 (below) I offer a tuning which is complementary to that of Figure 3 . This new tu...

Re: Spiral-DLT tuning (a working title)
I just noticed that assigning 1 draw as the tonic gives a continuously spiral-tuned lydian octave.

Re: Hohner PentaHarp (a 1990s alternate tuning)
Hohner says that the 2, 5 and 8 draws can give "semitone" bends. Does this make sense?

Re: Hohner PentaHarp (a 1990s alternate tuning)
I changed the title of this discussion because, according to Andrew Zajac:
In Pat Missin's Altered States list of altered tunings, this tuning is 11.15, "Blues Scale Tuning" which has been known since the 90s.

Re: Hohner PentaHarp (a 1990s alternate tuning)
To get those lovely I and IV chords back:
3 blow +2; 1 draw +1; 2 draw +1; 3 draw +2
For i and iv chords:
3 blow +1; 2 draw +1; 3 draw +2
3 blow +2; 1 draw +1; 2 draw +1; 3 draw +2
For i and iv chords:
3 blow +1; 2 draw +1; 3 draw +2
