A big part of the "Richter magic" lies in the ability to chug-chug away on those lovely I and IV cords in the low octave, i.e. chambers 1-4. Combs are fashioned such that each chamber is only as long as is needed to have the reed swing freely. What happens when a chamber is longer than that?
