Re: Notes from the Workshop
... I don't want to say too much before anything is released , because unanticipated problems can always crop up and detail what seems a dead cert. But the improved harps I've been creating include the TwinHarmonica series, both chromatic and diatonic based. ... Based on a new concept altogether, m...

Re: Playing chords by pushing the slider half-way in! (Is this a thing?)
I've played around with diminished and augmented on my midiharp, but I never had either tuning in a chromatic reed harmonica. By the way, when you said above the the forths and fifths are the only equally tempered intervals that sound good to you, I think you miss the octave ;) I don't know if peopl...

Re: Chromaticising X-Reed Harmonicas
By the way: Are there any drawbacks to setting the blow reeds to a non-zero gap?

Re: Chromaticising X-Reed Harmonicas
I tried an AsiaBend at HarpMeet and liked it, so I've been keeping an eye out to see when they'll be back in stock, so updates are nice:D

Nice to hear about your empirical results! A switch harp like the Irish Session are indeed already set up to try this. It would be nice to hear what other switch harp players think about this :) I know it's not easy to get the push just right, but I figured that's something one can learn. As you not...

Re: Octatonic Tuning "1122" (Idea Kniri)
There are two hexatonic blues scales in there, Eb and A, which are played with the exact same pattern. That's nice. The fifths bend down one half step, so I could imagine this tuning being good for blues as long as you stay in the hexatonic blues scale! The tonic is a bent note in both scales, which...

Re: Playing chords by pushing the slider half-way in! (Is this a thing?)
Diminished! :o A diminished slide-harp will be chromatic for any slide interval that isn't already present as an interval between blow notes! (or draw notes) This seems a very interesting idea! For instance, with the major-third slide in my first post, you get the following. Blow: Slide in e g bb c#...

Playing chords by pushing the slider half-way in! (Is this a thing?)
I don't recall reading about this anywhere When pressing the slider of a slide-endowed harp half way in, one can sound both reedplates. One use for this on a standard chrom could be to emulate blue notes, notes outside the standard chromatic scale. I know some people do this by rapidly shifting betw...

Re: Notes from the Workshop
Nice to hear about the progress! This place HAS been a little quiet lately, and looking back i find I haven't posted in almost two months. Mostly this is due to my work, where it's becoming increasingly clear a PhD thesis doesn't write itself. (Who would have thought, huh?) I hope to get some more t...

Re: NEW: Seydel All Minor
After having been sold out, it seems to be back for sale again!
Edit: This must have been very temporarily... It's not there now. Or I was mistaken. I was told by Triona that it will likely be back in a few weeks though.
