Re: Diatonic PowerCombs and Stealth-Valves Released

Hi Karl, All brands of 10-hole harmonica except Seydel have a spacing of about 7.5mm between holes and reeds. That means you could mix and match my valves between brands, with a bit of trimming However their reed lengths differ, so I took the time to make subtle adjustments appropriate to Hohner and...

Re: How would you tune this Starter or EasyPlay harp?

With such a small number of holes I'd want to maximise the range whilst keeping the scale simple for beginners, plus giving nice double-stop and chord intervals. This semi-pentatonic tuning ticks all those boxes. I've used it myself for a number of years. It's actually the bottom end of Paddy Richte...

Re: Asiabend or solo-tuned unibender?

It can have the same bends, but is blow/draw instead of all-draw. The clip I play on the UniBender in the video ("Wayfaring Stranger") is in Solo tuning, with the same bends as the AsiaBend.

Re: PowerChromatic: The 12 Major Scales with Bends ; Setup Advice

Nice one! I just made up those solos on the spur of the moment, never thought anyone would transcribe and learn them - it's an honour that you've gone to all that effort, Nick! Now you just need your own Andrew White :)

The MiniChrom / SwitchHarp is Released

This TwinDiatonic harmonica can be configured in so many ways! Its patent-pending airtight sliding mouthpiece allows you to switch instantly between two 10-hole diatonics attached behind; the sound you get all depends on what setup, key and tuning you choose for the two harps. The mouth hole spacing...

The latest model from my new TwinDiatonic series is now available to order: the TremoloHarp: http://www.brendan-power.com/harmonicas-twin-diatonic.php#twin-harps-diatonic-tremoloharp The tremolo sound is not one I use but it's very popular, especially in Asia. Here it is available in a small 10-hole...

Re: Asia bend, Auto Valve comb and the Lucky 13!!

Hi Nick, My AsiaBend has covers from the King Dream (riveted reeds) put on the next level up Easttop chrom, the Dreamer or 12-48-SR (welded reeds). Easttop advised me the reeds and reed/slot tolerances were better on the welded reed models.

Re: Power Chromatic

Here's a video showing how to play all 12 keys on PowerChromatic using just about all bends. This is played on the Seydel version, which has been embossed for better airtightness:

Re: Power Chromatic

I like the Easttop chroms. They have a very airtight slider/mouthpiece and good reed/slot tolerances, so they work well for half-valving.
