Re: Shifted Paddy Richter D/G

Since CX-12s come in different keys but similar reed lengths, you could ideally make a Paddy Richter CX-12 slide harp by swapping reeds from lower and higher keys to get the reeds you need with little tuning required. For G you could source reeds for the low octave from lower keys down to Tenor C, a...

Re: A cupping back for easier chromatic cupping

Agreed - seems like the Cupping Back is a good add-on, esp. with your rear-button chrom.

Re: OVERBLOWING - Where to From Here?

Thanks for the ideas, David and Felix. David: That would be great in theory, but I don't think a simple check valve could work to do what you propose. Since it would be activated to close by the blow breath, how could it distinguish between a normal blow and an overblow? Felix: Both the overdrive or...

Re: Irish Session Diatonic Reed Plates

Hi Paul, Hering are under new management but one thing hasn't changed: their poor communication. Emails go unreplied as often as not. It's the main reason I stopped dealing with them. For your plates, I suggest teaching yourself how to replace reeds. It will give you much more control over playing t...

Re: Blues Harp Mouthpiece and Mini PitchBender for the DM48

I've really been getting into Thor on iPad with the DM48 this past week. Bernzilla's patch set is good: http://www.berniekenerson.com/sound_design/ As you say Lizzie, its so user friendly. Nearly ready to take it on a gig, quite a threshold to cross! The Mini PitchBender are nearly ready to ship, ju...

Re: Rampless Chromatic Comb

Hi David, I saw on Harp-L you have an update to your excellent chrom, but the link didn't work. Always interested to see your new stuff, so please keep us informed here :-)

Your machined comb looks beautiful BTW.

Re: Power Chromatic

Actually PowerBender is the same as PowerChromatic for some of its range. On a 10-hole harp, the scale from hole 4 to hole 8 is PowerChromatic. So some of the stuff from my PowerBender book/CD will transfer over. I'm just awaiting a Seydel in PC to use to make an explanatory video on the tuning. It ...

Re: Midi harmonica dm48

I've been getting into the Thor app on iPad. Bernzilla (Bernie Kenerson) has a good patch set for it, as does Patchman. Links: http://www.berniekenerson.com http://www.patchmanmusic.com I'm finding I need to constantly change Sensitivity settings on the DM48 for different patches. Also for these pat...

Re: Shifted Paddy Richter D/G

Good to hear that quirky CX-10 is still going and giving you pleasure Jack :-) If you have any videos or recordings playing it, I'd love to hear examples of what you describe.
