Brendan...Will there be any gasket-valve for Seydel soloist pro 12?

Hi Brendan,

looks very fine and seems quite easy ti fit, compared to standard valves.
In your video you told about valve sets for chromatics. But I can not find them on your web site. The most urgent I would need are for Hohner 280. But perspectively I am interested also for my Hohner CX-12, Hohner 270, Hohner Chordomonika II (based on 270), Seydel Deluxe and Sampler. I can imagine that the zig-zag layout and the alternating blow-draw-side-by-side layout (*) are complicating this a little bit.

*) How is this called correctly? I mean that beside each blow reed lies a draw reed, so that there are no reedplates either with blow reeds or with draw reeds only, in difference to the standard diatonics you showed i your video.

Btw: If the worst comes to the worst, spit is glueing everything. (old German craftsmen's wisdom)

I have some customized marine bands with replacement combs and screws. Is there a valve system that will work, or I can customize? Also, do you ship to the USA?

Thanks for your comments. For now we're only releasing the diatonic version. The chromatic Gasket-Valve will require all the existing valves to be pulled off and their glue patches thoroughly removed - which is a job most chrom players will not wish to do, I think. For them it still makes more sense to replace individual valves as necessary.

However I'm hoping in the future the Gasket-Valve idea will be licensed by one or more manufacturer, to be installed on chromatic harmonicas at the factory. It would save them a lot of time and cost, I think! A couple of manufacturers are currently assessing it, so let's see what happens.

No Seydel Soloist Gasket-Valves yet, sorry. We'll increase the number of compatible models as time goes on.

The Hohner Crossover/Marine Band Deluxe Gasket-valve will fit custom Marine Band 1896 as long as the screws are inserted in the enlarged nail holes on the draw reedplate.

That might be true. But I have 2 very fine 280 "Larry Adler", about 50 years old I presume. On them I blow away one valve by the other. They just don't stick properly any more. I must replace the whole set anyway. (The mere costs of a new set is about 30 € for each. Not counted the Sysiphos work to reglue 58 valves in the old way. ) And one of them I want to retune into D. There I must remove the valves anyway, even these who did not fly away up till now.

Therefore I have actually nearly "waited" upon a solution like this. Let us see what there will come first - your super valves fitting to these, or when I will find time and feel like to retune the one of them.

I also have waited for a good solution for my soloist pro which should be a much easier task. But i maybe could use the new gasket valves on soloist pro if they have the same dimensions as Seydel favorite and then merge something together on the end

Apologies: I was assuming you meant the Solist Pro 12.
I didn't realise Seydel had a Solist Pro 10 hole harp. Just found it on their site, it looks like the Classic.

Good news: the Seydel sandwich (1847 type) Gasket-valve will fit all their 10 hole harps, including the Solist Pro.

I think I have a Soloist Pro 12 lying around somewhere, will have a look.

It would be great to also have a gasket-valve system to Seydel soloist pro 12🙂. I have 5 of those too :D

I have been trying to buy these for a few days now, but it's proven difficult!

Now that the store seems to be working again, and the text on the page seems to have caught up with the price adjustment for larger orders, I face another difficulty: There are no gasket-valves with regular breathing pattern, for any harmonica brand! When I try to order, the site informs me that "This product combination does not exist."

Interestingly, this includes the Lucky 13 PowerBender/PowerDraw, while the gasket-valves for a reversed top octave are available for these models!

I very much hope this means they are all sold out, as this would mean this idea has been really successful :) The price adjustment would hint at that as well, but I'm still paused by the just mentioned curiosity with the Lucky 13's.

What I've been trying to buy is 2x Lee Oskar with reversed top octave breathing pattern, and 2x Seydel Session Steel with regular breathing pattern throughout. All four sets with an extra blow plate gasket. Are these in stock?

If they're still available I'm hoping to get my order through in time get them before the end of the month to brag about them at Bingsjöstämman. With about 12 000 people attending, it's one of the largest traditional music gatherings in Sweden. It's dominated by many thousands of violins, but there we're a few harmonica players as well :D
