Either the lowest note of the bottom octave, or high note of the top octave.

So in the key of G the Solist actually starts on A3 on blow 1 in order to include G6 at blow 12 (and goes up to A6 on the draw 12 as the draw note is higher). The extra hole on the lucky 13 allows G3 on blow 1 up to A6 on draw 13. If you configured the solist to start on G3 you end at F#6 on draw 12.

You'd also lose about £65 😉

I own both models, though not in that tuning. In my experience, the Lucky 13 is much louder and more responsive than the Solist Pro 12. YMMV.

Thanks guys...i have no problems to make it louder and more responsive with a little tweaks but theory is not my strongest part. I just wonderd if the layout on the draw and blow pattern is more logical on Lucky 13 compaired to Soloist Pro. Custom and vat is not very positive at the moment since Swedish postal service decided to punish asian countries for the large import so the Lucky 13 is maybe not that cheap after custom is finished with it.

Maybe worth contacting Brendan direct as mine came from him in the UK not direct from China.

I think really just one hole, since you can select the layout on Seydel generator.

If your question is more related to application of playing, then it will depend on what keys you gravitate to and how low you want to go blow your tonic note. More specifically, if you are playing in the key of G on a G Lucky 13 in PC, then on the lowest G (one hold blow) you can't the b7 (F) below that G. the lowest you can go id the Gb valved blow bend. If you want to use the Seydel generator, you can adjust this and start the G on the 2 hole blow, giving you a E/F# on the first hole. Now your flat 7th (F) is a draw bend to the left of your blow tonic, but you are still tuned G major.

If you are playing a G in the key of A(1 hole draw), then your b7 is a blow note directly on top of the 1 hole draw. Again, if you are on the Seydel config, then you can move the pattern over to the right one hole and get even more "room" for playing under that particular tonic of A. I have both the G and D PC lucky 13s, the octave range is broad enough to where I am not really anchoring on the 1 blow if I am in G, or 1 draw if I am in A. I find myself up in the octave above more often and trying to pick those notes up in octave splits.

I struggled with using the configurator to customize some PC turnings on Seydels harps, but held out, waiting for the BP release. I am sure others will pipe in, but I believe BP chose a musically versatile octave range for the Lucky 13s.

Thanks! :D ...i got the Soloist pro in the mail yesterday and played a couple of hours today fiddling around with it and just tried to get the feeling of it. It sure helps to have played powerbender before. I also translated some of my old solos to powerchromatic to get a better view of blow/draw notes. It becomes more intuitive after a while. And the Lucky 13 is still a interesting choice despite that spare parts is easier to buy to Soloist pro.
