Irish music book cover??

Post by madden » Sun Dec 02, 2018 10:46 pm

Brendan
Today my uncle came over to practice as we will be playing our Christmas song together (first time ever!) and as I was showing him your book and singing your praises of course he noticed the drill bits coming out of the harmonica. I of course had no answer for him, so we’re curious now why are the drill bits coming out of the harmonica?

Just for fun... It made a striking picture.

A subliminal message could be that playing a harmonica is not as easy as it first seems, it's a sharp and rocky road at times. But that's in the eye of the beholder - I'd be interested in your initial spontaneous impression :-)

I’ve been working out of it for several months now, but I always thought of it as my book of drills such as exercises. In my mind that’s the message I assumed u we’re sending.

Book of drills, as in practice routines... Ha! I hadn't ever thought of that, but it works :)

Okay
I thought I would give a report on our Christmas song! My first time playing in front of anybody! I think I reported earlier that the song was to be “Christmas in Killarney”.
We started off together okay, with my uncle on guitar and me on harmonica. Then my aunt began to clap!!!! Oh noooo that was a new sound and my brain overloaded and stopped working!
LOL
Well the song basically repeats the AB parts 3 times unless you get creative which I could not!
After the clapping cleared my brain and I was able to stop slurring along trying to catch up, by the 3rd pass I had caught my uncles timing and we actually sounded okay for one round of both A&B parts
It was a blast though and since it was family, they were much more complimentary than deserved.

Funny how the brain works trying to learn. The first night my uncle played guitar next to me— brain gone! Get over that and then he sings—gone again couldn’t remember a single note!
Then aunt claps,, this is all new really wish I had started sooo long again and much younger! Having a great adventure though
