A space for players interested in my specialist harmonicas, alternate tunings, instructional material, recordings etc to ask questions and share information, experiences, videos etc.
Hi Karl, All brands of 10-hole harmonica except Seydel have a spacing of about 7.5mm between holes and reeds. That means you could mix and match my valves between brands, with a bit of trimming
However their reed lengths differ, so I took the time to make subtle adjustments appropriate to Hohner and Suzuki. But if you pay attention you can mix them up for sure
I would like to buy several valve kits for my Hohner SP20's. Are the Hohner 10-hole the best fit? Seems like a stupid question, but I want to be sure before I order, so I don't waste my money...
Side-questions:
Which kit would have the longest valves among the 10-hole valve kits: Hohner or Suzuki?
Would that kit match any standard 10-hole harp, with a bit of trimming?
Yes, the S20 reed layout is identical to the Marine Band, Crossover etc
BTW, my previous reply that you can mix and match my Stealth-Valves across various brands is not strictly correct. That's because the angle of the reeds from longest to shortest varies. That's where the sets of valves differ, so best to buy the set that applies to the brand of harp you have.
