HM12 digital harmonica MIDI velocity sensitivity?

I have a new HM 1210 digital harmonica. When using the MIDI port, I get no velocity sensitivity. It always outputs MIDI velocity 127, which I verify with MIDI Monitor on my MacBook. Is there a way to make it output a range of MIDI velocities in the expected way? The volume control has no effect, apparently because it only adjust the volume of the HM 1210's onboard synth. If someone knows how to fix this for the HM 12, I'm hoping the HM 1210 will work the same way.

You might try checking your MIDI settings or updating your HM 1210's firmware to support more accurate velocity sensing.
