Hello all. My name is James Morris and I live in Cincinnati Ohio USA. I just turned 45 of July 2nd and I got a Seydel 1847 powerbender in A as a gift. First of all I must say this harp is fantastic. Out of the box I could play every bend u til I got to hole 9&10. I tried adjusting the gapping on them but admittedly I am very new to harp 4 months) so it could be my technique. I did get hole 9 to start bending and hole 10 is very close so maybe some more time and it will be fine. Besides that I love the tuning. It seems very intuitive to me.

My question is can I get Brendan’s book as a download? Also is there any other resources available to help with really getting things to click with this tuning? As I said I’m a beginner on harp but I have been a musician for 38 years. I have been able to play some songs already that before I had to use a country tuned harp or I wouldn’t be able to play due to not knowing how to play overblows.

Anyway I’m just looking for some guidance or advice on what I should do from here. I can play clean single notes and play bends with no issue. My technique is decent I’d say as my tone is fairly good and I have some vibrato or tremolo when desired.

I just want to learn this tuning very much because it makes more sense to me than richter. Your advice is appreciated.

Hello James

The book itself comes in physical copy only (as any digital version of the book would be too easy to copy). The book comes with a CD tutorial which is also sent to you in MP3 format. (We are phasing out the CDs gradually).

As for additional resources, check out the videos on the PowerBender page:

Also check out these videos made by others exploring and reviewing the PowerBender tuning:

There are others - just do a search for PowerBender on YouTube. Have fun!
