You can make the magnetic force stronger quite easily. Romove the upper coverplate and lower reedplate/coverplate combination. Use a small screw-driver or similar and push the comb magnets down to the draw side. The closer they are to being flush to the comb the stronger the force will be.

I still recommend using vaseline or similar on the drawplate for slipping and airtightness.
