How do the Trochilus and Twin Diatonic compare in playability? Which is more air tight, easier to hold, etc? How do the high notes compare?
I really like the Trochilus. I’ve never played a twin diatonic. With the twin diatonic you can swap out harps quickly for different tunings. But the overall package might be more expensive. But I’m wondering how they compare when playing.
Thanks!

By Twin Diatonic, I assume you mean the Switch-Harp?

As the designer/inventor of the Switch-Harp, I'm happy to say that the Trochilus is definitely superior in terms of playability. That's down to various things: JDRs excellent reedplates for one, the fact your mouth is much closer to the reeds (always a good thing) than the Switch-Harp, and a nice airtight slider.
The Switch-Harp has a couple of good features for the diatonic player: regular diatonic hole spacing, and the capability of swapping in different harp units to change keys etc.
However, for pure out of the box playability of an un-valved 10-hole Richter chromatic (also available in Paddy-Richter and Solo), the Trochilus is the best option to choose without a doubt.

Hi Brendan thanks for the reply! Yes I meant Switch-Harp. You’ve cured me of my FOMO thanks.
I love the Trochilus and I’ve gotten pretty adept at trying out different tunings with poster putty and solder. Super fun.
