I've been playing a Lucky 13 PowerChromatic for a year or so, and loving it.
Now I'm thinking about getting a chromatic harp with the PowerChromatic tuning. I have looked at the Seydel options - Saxony and De Luxe Steele. Are there other options for buying one? Looking to play it out of the box, without retuning. Thanks!
PowerChromatic options?
Re: PowerChromatic options?
I'm glad you're enjoying PowerChromatic tuning. At present, the Seydel version is the only out-of-the box chromatic available. However with reasonable skills you can make one out of any brand of chromatic.
Re: PowerChromatic options?
@ Seydel: And if the high price should be a retarding argument, I can recommend to choose the "Deluxe Steel" version. It has eactly the same reedplates as the "Saxony Steel". The difference is the acrylic comb of the "Deluxe" instead of the aluminium comb of the Saxony - besides the satinised finish of the Saxony's cover plates.

Thanks for the info!
Several years ago, I resolved to spend more time playing harmonicas--and less time tinkering with them. (I've seen similar sentiments from you lately, Brendan.) In spite of that, you've got me thinking about customizing my own PC. It seems pretty easy. Is it just these steps?

- Use a dremel to tune each F up to F#.
- Use Blue Tac to tune each first C down to A.
- Do the same thing to the C#-key reeds.
- Remove some of the valves? Which ones?
- Embossing is probably a must.
- Anything else?

Re: PowerChromatic options?
Hi Brendan and everyone. I have been very excited about using Brendan's Power Chromatic which I bought from Seydel a couple of year ago. I've had the pleasure of MC ing when Brendan has been playing too. Let's bring those days back. Here is a video taken by Shirish at the last Chrom weekend where I play Brendan's tuning on the Crusader's 'Put It Where You Want it.' Enjoy https://youtu.be/L4cKo2IuehE
